Official sources
Primary citations used to verify the student loan rules behind this calculator. Sources were last checked on 11 July 2026.
How sources are chosen
Student loan rules are the primary subject of this site. When encoding thresholds, interest, write-off policy and related assumptions, the project prioritises official material from GOV.UK, the Student Loans Company or Department for Education, Scottish/SAAS terms where Plan 4 is concerned, HMRC employer guidance for payroll collection, and Bank of England or ONS releases where interest inputs depend on Bank Rate or inflation measures.
Inclusion of a source here does not mean every calculator page, guide or projection uses every citation. Some sources support background verification, employer collection context, or Scotland-specific terms even when a given screen focuses on a narrower product.
For how those rules are turned into estimates, read the methodology page.
